EUSA Student Commission members met in Ljubljana

European University Sports Association (EUSA) hosted a meeting of its Student Commission in Ljubljana, Slovenia between January 25 and 27, 2019. This was the first meeting of the new composition of the EUSA Student Commission, joint by the outgoing members in order to assure knowledge transfer.

Student Commission members were greeted by EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik. They gave a short introduction to EUSA, reflected on the importance of the Commission and welcomed them to the EUSA Family.

Welcomes by EUSA President and Secretary General

Student Commission (STC) Chair Ms Anna Edes thanked EUSA President, Secretary General and EUSA staff for their welcome and support. The meeting continued with the introduction of the STC members and their associations. Apart of its Chair Ms Edes, from the new Commission composition, Mr Linus Löhlein (SUI), Ms Stefanie Mitterlehner (AUT), Mr Darragh Moran (IRL), Ms Kaisla Osara (FIN), Ms Nina Plank (SLO) and Mr Xavier Vieira (POR) attended the meeting. Mr Moritz Belmann (GER) and Ms Cloe Calmettes (FRA) participated in the meeting online. From the outgoing members of the Commission Mr Seit Demiri (SLO), Ms Katarzyna Czalej (POL) and Mr Daniel Monteiro (POR) were present, reporting on the activities and projects of the Commission, sharing also their personal experiences and advice.

Meeting discussions

EUSA Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl, who acts as the Secretary of the Commission and supports its activities from the EUSA Office, gave an overview of the organisation and its activities. Ms Sara Rozman, EUSA Education and Development Manager then presented to the Commission members the EU-funded projects and activities connected with them. The debate with Commission members revolved around the benefits of EU projects for EUSA and students, and the role of the Student Commission in the promotion of the projects within their own countries. Both Mr Pisl and Ms Rozman were joined by Mr Mariano Carcatella, the current volunteer project assistant within the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), and the participants also had a chance to meet representatives of the EUSA Sport department.

Teambuilding activity

The Commission discussed STC projects and activities, including EUSA Volunteer Programme, STC Networking, monthly What’s Up Column, #myEUSA campaign and photo competition. The members discussed EUSA development strategy and reflected on Commission’s responsibilities in the delivery plan. Commission members also worked on the STC activity plan, assigned responsibilities, discussed cooperation with other EUSA commission and discussed other initiatives, ideas and proposals.

STC members enjoyed also #beactive leisure and sports activities, which included active sightseeing of Ljubljana and Bled, visiting trampoline park, as well as getting to know each other and working together in a teambuilding activity.
