EUSA Student Commission meets in Germany

Following the European Youth and Sport Platform (EYSP) hosted by ENGSO Youth, members of the EUSA Student Commission gathered on June 7 in Oberhaching near Munich for their annual in-person meeting. The gathering offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on past activities, share national updates, and plan future student-focused initiatives.

The meeting opened with welcoming words in a positive and friendly atmosphere, as Commission members reconnected and introduced their recent work. Each member presented updates from their countries, sharing experiences from key national student sport events and activities.

Representatives from the EUSA Office provided a comprehensive overview of recent developments in the organisation. Updates covered EUSA sports activities, ongoing governance matters, and progress in various European projects. The contributions reinforced the shared mission of empowering students through sport and creating stronger platforms for youth voices within EUSA’s structure.

The second part of the meeting focused on planning upcoming student-centred activities. The group discussed the next steps for the EUSA Volunteer Programme, as well as the continued EUSA engagement in the FISU Ambassadors initiative. Ideas were also exchanged on enhancing communication tools, including the WhatsUp column, social media strategies, and updated thematic photo competition to engage wider student audiences. Strengthening the EUSA Alumni Network was also identified as a priority for long-term connection and involvement.

One of the key elements of the meeting was a discussion on the future vision for student engagement in university sport. The Commission brainstormed new ideas to foster innovation, inclusion, and sustainability across student activities. Emphasis was placed on creating meaningful opportunities for young people to lead, contribute, and shape the sporting environment around them.

The meeting concluded with an open floor session, allowing members to raise additional ideas and suggestions. The diversity of perspectives and the energy in the room highlighted the passion and commitment of the Commission to driving progress in student sport.

Members of the EUSA Student Commission also actively participated at the European Youth and Sport Platform, promoting the values and activities of the organisation, as well as taking part in sports activities. The in-person meeting which was also open for online attendance continued the active engagement of the EUSA Student Commission, supporting and inspiring youth work and engagement within the framework of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
