EUSA Rowing Championship 2022 kicked off

The Opening Ceremony of the European Universities Rowing Championship 2022 took place on Wednesday, 7 September 2022 in Istanbul at Yeditepe University.

The event, which is already the 12th edition of the European Universities Rowing Championship, is hosting 534 participants from as many as 71 universities from 16 European countries.

On behalf of the Organising Committee participants were welcomed by the Yeditepe University Rector Ms Canan Aykut Bingöl.

Also the President of the Turkish University Sport Federation (TUSF) Mr Mehmet Günay and Head of the Organising Committee Mr Taner Karabulut welcomed everyone attending the event.

Mr Adam Roczek as the President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) welcomed all participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities well ahead of the start of the competition, while also thanking the Organising Committee for all their contributions.

The Opening ceremony also included march pass of the participants, as well as a special programme, showcasing the history and culture of the hosts.

Rowing course on the Bosphorus

The European Universities Rowing Championship is organised by the Turkish University Sports Federation and Yeditepe University, with the contribution of Istanbul General Directorate of Youth and Sport, Fatih Municipality Canoe and Rowing Sports Center. The Championship is taking place from Wednesday, 7 September to Friday, 9 September in Fatih Municipality Canoe and Rowing Sports Center in Istanbul.

The Championship is attended on behalf of the European University Sports Association by its President Mr Adam Roczek, Technical Delegate for Rowing Mr Lionel Girard, Sports Manager Mr Miha Zvan and Assistant Sport Manager Mr Mariano Carcatella. Working closely with the local Organising Committee, their partners and volunteers, they are making sure that the event runs smoothly and without problems.
