EUSA publishes special 20th Anniversary Book

To commemorate two decades of the European University Sports Association, EUSA has published a special edition 20th Anniversary Book to celebrate the association’s immense growth over the past 20 years.

Since its founding in 1999, EUSA has strived to be a leader in the European University Sport movement across the continent, organising sport competitions, numerous educational events and involving itself in many social responsibility projects, embedding itself as an integral proponent in the development of not only university sport, but various related matters as well, including dual career, inclusion, equality, safe-guarding and more. The association has enjoyed immense growth from its early years, having started with 25 member countries to its current 46 National University Sport Association member federations.

With the help of local organising committees, four editions of the European Universities Games as well as 15 seasons of the European Universities Championships have been organised so far, seeing an impressive rise from 250 participants in the first edition in 2001 to a record 5242 participants in the 2019 season.

Across the 240 pages in this special 20th Anniversary Book, EUSA is able to reflect on every aspect of the association’s growth over the past two decades, focusing on various individuals, organisations, stakeholders and partner federations who have contributed to the organisation’s success.

The book reflects on the growth of the association’s structure from its humble beginnings, while taking a trip down memory lane through a timeline noting EUSA’s major highlights over the past 20 years.

Focus is then given to each of the 174 European Universities Championships organised over the past 20 years, as well as the four successful editions of the European Universities Games, highlighting the statistics of each while listing the winners of each competition.

Recipients of EUSA’s various awards are also highlighted in the Book, with a short outlook given to future EUSA activities, including the 2021 European Universities Games in Belgrade, Serbia, as well as future editions of both the Games and Championships, educational events and future projects.
