EUSA President visits FITEQ Headquarters

On the invitation of the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), European University Sports Association (EUSA) President Mr Adam Roczek visited the FITEQ headquarters in Budapest, where he was welcomed by Mr Gabor Borsanyi, the president of FITEQ and one of the founders of Teqball.

Mr Roczek had the opportunity learn more about all five TEQ sports, including teqball, teqis, teqpong, teqvoly and qatch, as professional representatives of FITEQ presented the five unique sports. After the presentations, the EUSA President was able to showcase his skills and experience the sports himself while playing teqball, teqis and teqpong with the founder of the games.

“I am very happy to have had the opportunity to personally try the Teqball table, a sports equipment that universities and colleges would certainly benefit from,” Mr Roczek said. “Students need easy-to-access options that do not require much travel and no special equipment. In their free time, they can easily just go with a ball and play immediately. It gives them a simple way to relax and recharge fast.”

After the successful meeting, Mr Borsanyi shared his thoughts about his discussions with Mr Roczek: “In a really friendly atmosphere, we could agree on different opportunities of cooperation, development and future common goals,” he said. “Many university students participate in our competitions nowadays around the world, and after this successful meeting I truly believe that the European university community will get a deeper insight into all five TEQ sports and will find joy and passion in our games.”

FITEQ representatives stressed the wish for TEQ sports to be recognised by the university sports community in order to be able to have European Universities Championships in TEQ sports. Mr Roczek emphasised that EUSA, in the same way as FITEQ, is looking for new innovative opportunities to involve as many people, especially students, as possible into the sports activities. At the meeting both sides confirmed to further discuss potential cooperation.
