EUSA opens Bidding for European Universities Championships 2029
The European University Sports Association has officially opened the bidding procedure for the European Universities Championships 2029 (EUC 2029), inviting universities, cities, and organising committees across Europe to submit their candidatures.
Opening on the 1st of April 2026, the process marks the start of preparations for one of Europe’s key university sport competition frameworks, bringing together student-athletes from across the continent in a wide range of disciplines.

Bidding Timeline
The EUC 2029 bidding procedure follows a structured timeline:
- 01 April 2026 – Opening of the Bidding Procedure
- 15 September 2026 – Bidding Dossier and Web page Submission*
- 01 October 2026 – Attribution Fee Payment**
- 25 October 2026 – EUC Attribution
- 30 November 2026 – Signing of the Attribution Agreement
*The web page will be provided by EUSA after the Letter of Intention Submission.
**Attribution Fee to be refunded in case the candidate is not selected.

Sports Programme
The EUC 2029 programme includes a total of 23 sports, distributed across four groups:
- Group 1: Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Futsal
- Group 2: Athletics, Rowing, Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Kickboxing
- Group 3: 3x3 Basketball, Badminton, Handball, Orienteering, Padel, Powerlifting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Water Polo, Beach Handball, Beach Volleyball
- Group 4: Chess

The European Universities Championships are organised annually across different host cities and represent an important platform for university sport development in Europe. Hosting an event offers cities and institutions the opportunity to strengthen their international profile, enhance sports infrastructure, and engage with a diverse student-athlete community.
