EUSA-NUSA online meeting - December 2025

The EUSA–NUSA Webinar held online on 4 December 2025 brought together representatives across Europe during the one-hour meeting dedicated to updating National University Sports Associations (NUSAs) and preparing for the upcoming cycle of European university sport events.

The session opened at 17:00 CET with welcoming remarks from Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General/CEO, who highlighted the importance of coordination and continuous cooperation between EUSA and the NUSAs. In his subsequent Office Report, he shared updates from the Executive Committee, developments regarding associated members, and the establishment of new commissions aimed at strengthening EUSA’s organisational capacity and responding to the evolving needs of the university sport community.

The discussion then moved to Liam Smith, EUSA Director of Sports Events, who provided a thorough overview of the upcoming sports activities. He began with a brief reflection on the EUC 2025 Summer Championships, noting a record-breaking year of participation and operational achievements. Liam also presented updates on the EUC 2025 Winter edition, progress toward the European Universities Games 2026 in Salerno, and developments regarding the EUC 2026 Combat and Rowing Championships, offering insight into timelines, preparations, and expected participation.

Following these updates, Miha Zvan, EUSA Sports Manager, presented updates on rules and regulations, explaining revisions to general competition rules and highlighting sport-specific adjustments soon to be distributed to the NUSAs.

Aleksandra Andreeva, EUSA Sports Administrator, continued with an overview of registration procedures, reminding the NUSAs of key deadlines and offering guidance to support smooth and accurate submissions for upcoming events.

Looking ahead, Kinga Gaal, EUSA Sports Officer, provided information on long-term championship planning. She shared the provisional EUC 2027 calendar, presented the promotional video for the 2027 Athletics event, and outlined the bidding process for the EUC 2029 cycle, encouraging interested hosts to begin preparing their proposals.

The meeting also included an important contribution from Andrej Pisl, EUSA Director Projects & Policy, who presented an overview of current EUSA projects and highlighted future project opportunities available to NUSAs. His update underscored the value of European-level cooperation, showcasing initiatives related to education, inclusion, dual careers, volunteering, digital development, and other strategic areas where NUSAs can actively engage and benefit from international collaboration.

The EUSA–NUSA Webinar successfully strengthened cooperation between EUSA and the NUSAs by providing clear updates, highlighting opportunities, and aligning plans for the coming years. The collaborative spirit set a strong foundation for continued progress and active engagement in the seasons ahead.
