EUSA meets with UEFA in Nyon

The European University Sports Association (EUSA) was present in the Swiss town of Nyon for a positive introductory meeting with UEFA, the Union of European Football Associations, at their headquarters on July 9.

In attendance on behalf of EUSA was Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti alongside EUSA Futsal Technical Delegate Mr Tomasz Aftanski, who met with UEFA Chief Policy and Stakeholder Affairs Advisor Mr Julien Zylberstein.

The point of discussion in the one day meeting involved potential collaboration in the organisation of future EUSA Football and Futsal events, as well possible educational collaboration on topics such as Dual Career and Anti-doping, fair play promotion and other projects.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reiterated their desire to formulate concrete plans on areas of collaboration to define in the next steps in working towards a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations.

EUSA meet UEFA in Nyon 2

Within the 2019 European Universities Championships sports programme, the European Universities Futsal Championships will be taking place in Braga, Portugal from July 15-23 while the European Universities Football Championships will be hosted in Spain’s capital Madrid from July 20-27, with both competitions organised in close collaboration with the national football federations.

In addition, EUSA has already begun implementing a number of fair play strategies, including the introduction of the fair play ‘Green Card’ at the 2017 European Universities Football Championships in Porto, while VAR will be introduced at this year’s Football Championship in Madrid.
