EUSA meets with Serbian Prime Minister

Ahead of next year’s European Universities Games 2020 in Belgrade, Serbia, EUSA was again present in the Serbian capital for a number of high-profile meetings.

Joining the highest authorities in the organisation process for next year’s Games was the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ms Ana Brnabic.

Present on behalf of EUSA was President Mr Adam Roczek and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, with EUG2020 Director Mr Predrag Juskovic, Rector of the University of Belgrade Ms Ivanka Popovic and USSS President Mr Dejan Madic some of the other key figures present.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the progress made by the EUG2020 Organising Committee so far, while outlining the necessary actions needed over the coming months.

Prime Minister Brnabic gave her full backing of the event, confirming the Republic of Serbia’s commitment to organise the Games in the best way possible in what is expected to be one of the biggest European Universities Games in the event’s history.

Prior to the meeting with the Prime Minister, Mr Roczek and Mr Pecovnik were involved in various other meetings, as they discussed the progress report of the Organising Committee with Mr Juskovic.

The EUSA representatives, together with members of the EUG2020 Organising Committee, also visited the Basketball Federation of Serbia, meeting its Secretary General Mr Dejan Tomasevic.

Mr Tomasevic revealed the Federation’s pride at being part of EUG2020, and promised to deliver a memorable Basketball and 3x3 Basketball competition next year. EUSA President Mr Roczek acknowledged basketball’s popularity in Serbia, and has faith in the Basketball Federation of Serbia to organise a tournament of the highest quality.

Basketball is one of the 20 sports on the programme at EUG2020, scheduled to take place from July 12-25, 2020.
