The European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) met in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on Sunday, October 18, to discuss their partnership and opportunities for further cooperation in university sport.

The meeting, hosted by ETTU in Stožice Arena on the occasion of the last day of their European Table Tennis Championships, brought together EUSA President Haris Pavletic, First Vice-President Bruno Barracosa and Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik, with ETTU President Pedro Moura and Secretary General Pierre Kass.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the development of table tennis in Europe and explore ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two organisations. Discussions focused on the role of university sport in promoting table tennis among young people, supporting student-athletes and creating opportunities for universities and students to engage in international sporting competitions.

EUSA and ETTU have been official partners since 2017, when the two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening collaboration, promoting table tennis among students and exploring joint initiatives and projects. A new agreement has been discussed for the near future.

Both organisations share a commitment to developing table tennis at university level and supporting opportunities for student-athletes. With the common aspiration to combine sporting participation with academic pursuits, ETTU representatives fruitfully attended some of the most recent editions of EUSA European Universities Table Tennis Championships, experiencing both the level of the competitions and the potential of the event platform.

Together with invitations to upcoming EUSA institutional and sporting events, the meeting reaffirmed the importance of maintaining a close working exchange between the two European sports organisations, building on their established partnership and exploring further opportunities for collaboration.
