EUSA meets Norwegian Association of University Sports in Bergen

At the invitation of Amalie Husby, President of the Norwegian Association of University Sports, EUSA representatives attended the Norwegian Student Games in Bergen.

The visit brought together EUSA President Haris Pavletic and EUSA Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik to learn more about the event and discuss opportunities to strengthen cooperation with university sport in the Nordic region.

With approximately 2,500 participants competing across 25 sports, the Norwegian Student Games provide an important platform for student-athletes to compete, connect and experience the values of university sport. The event also highlights the role of national university sports associations in bringing students together through sport and fostering a strong sense of community.
A highlight of this year's event was the first edition of the Nordic Championship in 3x3 Basketball, which saw participating teams from Norway, Sweden and Finland and proved to be a great success.

During the visit, EUSA representatives met with Amalie Husby, President of the Norwegian Association of University Sports, and Yngvild Larsen Schei, member of the EUSA Executive Committee, as well as other key representatives of the Norwegian university sports community, namely Vice-President Mads Fuglesang Ohra and Head of International Affairs Birte Sunde Leirvag.

The meetings provided an opportunity to discuss the development of university sport in Norway and across Europe, exchange perspectives on current priorities, and explore ways to strengthen the relationship between the Norwegian Association of University Sports and EUSA.
The Norwegian NUSA also hosted the first in-person meeting of EUSA's recently formed Inclusion and Diversity Commission.

Cooperation between national university sports associations and EUSA plays an important role in the development of European university sport. Through regular dialogue, the exchange of knowledge and experience, and participation in international events, these partnerships help create new opportunities for student-athletes and universities while supporting the continued growth of university sport at both national and European levels.

Norway currently leads the Nordic countries in participation at EUSA events, providing a solid basis for further cooperation and development. Building on this engagement, EUSA aims to explore new opportunities for hosting European university sports events in the region and to encourage more student-athletes and universities to become part of the European university sport community.

EUSA thanks Amalie Husby and Yngvild Larsen Schei for their welcome and continued commitment to university sport. Congratulations are also extended to the organisers and volunteers of the Norwegian Student Games for their work in delivering an event that brings together students from across the country.

Through continued cooperation with national university sports associations, EUSA remains committed to strengthening university sport across Europe and creating more opportunities for student-athletes to participate, compete and connect beyond national borders.
