Alongside the EUSA Convention in Kranjska Gora, EUSA President Haris Pavletic, accompanied by EUSA Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik, met with a delegation from Covilha, Portugal, to discuss ongoing cooperation and the city's plans for hosting future European university sports events.

The meeting focused on preparations for the European Universities Table Tennis Championship 2027, which will bring university athletes to Covilha, as well as the recent awarding of the European Universities Futsal Championship 2029 to the Portuguese city.

Discussions also explored the possibility of Covilha hosting a larger-scale EUSA event in 2033, with the European Universities Combat Championships among the potential options.

The Covilha delegation included Helio Fazendeiro, Mayor of Covilha; Luis Marques, City Councillor; Henrique Neiva, Pro-Rector of the University of Beira Interior; Joao Nunes, President of the UBI Students’ Union; Camila Dias, Secretary General of the Table Tennis 2027 Organising Committee; Pedro Bernardo and Ricardo Nora, representing the Futsal 2029 Organising Committee; and Tomas Nascimento, Vice-President of FADU, the Portuguese University Sports Federation.

The discussions also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the longstanding cooperation between EUSA and FADU. Over the years, this partnership has contributed to the development of university sport in Portugal and created opportunities for student-athletes to participate in international competitions, exchange experiences and become part of the wider European university sports community.

With preparations for the upcoming championships already underway and further ambitions discussed, the meeting highlighted Covilha's continued commitment to European university sport. The cooperation between the city, the University of Beira Interior, FADU and EUSA provided a foundation for further initiatives and future opportunities to bring university athletes from across Europe together.
