EUSA joins HEPA Europe

The European University Sports Association (EUSA) has been officially accepted into the HEPA Europe network, European Network for the Promotion of Health-Enhancing Physical Activity. This is a significant step in advancing health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA) within university sport across Europe.

HEPA Europe is a Europen network of the World Health Organisation (WHO), established in 2005 with the mission to provide a forum for the advancement of HEPA research, policy, and practice for better health and well-being across the WHO European Region. The network aims to foster interdisciplinary communication and knowledge exchange between researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, facilitate the sharing of experiences and best practices, and contribute to the development of multisectoral and intersectoral policies and strategies for HEPA.

HEPA Europe anniversary was celebrated with the 20th annual meeting and 16th conference of HEPA Europe, between 17 and 19 September 2025 in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Under the title "Health Enhancing Physical Activity: Taking Steps Towards Sustainability", emphasis of the conference was on sustainability that is grounded on a strong synergy between physical activity promotion and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), presenting unique opportunities to simultaneously address multiple population health priorities. Next year's conference will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

EUSA's inclusion in HEPA Europe underscores its commitment to promoting physical activity among university students and staff. As an umbrella organization representing national university sports federations across Europe, EUSA is poised to leverage this partnership to enhance the physical activity landscape within academic institutions. By joining HEPA Europe, EUSA further strengthens its commitment to the shared goal of promoting health and well-being across Europe.
