EUSA Health and Wellbeing Council holds first online meeting

The first online meeting of the EUSA Health and Wellbeing Council (HWC) was successfully held following its formal confirmation at the most recent Executive Committee session.

The meeting marked the official start of the Council’s work, bringing together appointed members to establish a shared understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

The Council is chaired by Ulrike Kallenburg (GER), with members Sam Bell-Minogue (GBR), Peter Hidas (HUN), and Igor Spasic (SLO). Together, they bring a range of expertise that will contribute to strengthening health and well-being standards across EUSA activities.

During the session, participants introduced themselves and reviewed the Council’s terms of reference. The discussion focused on the Council’s core function: to support the EUSA Executive Committee in decision-making processes related to health, medical services, nutrition, and overall well-being at EUSA sports events.

In addition, the group outlined preliminary priorities, including the development of guidelines, support mechanisms for event organisers, and the integration of best practices across different EUSA events. Emphasis was placed on consistency, quality assurance, and the long-term improvement of health and well-being standards within the EUSA activities.

Looking ahead, the Council will continue its activities through a combination of online and in-person meetings scheduled for later in the year, ensuring ongoing coordination and contribution to EUSA’s strategic sports-related decisions.
