EUSA General Assembly 2020 preparations already underway

The European University Sports Association was present in the Armenian capital city Yerevan, the hosts of next year’s EUSA General Assembly, with preparations for next year’s event already underway.

From September 11-13, EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek and EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik met with the Armenian Student Sports Federation, who together with local authorities will organise the 2020 EUSA General Assembly, a first for the country of Armenia.

Mr Roczek and Mr Pecovnik were warmly received by RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mr Grisha Tamrazyan, with Mr Arkady Petrosyan, Head of the Department of Sport and Exercise Education of the RA Ministry of Education and Science and Mr Hovhannes Gabrielyan, Secretary General of the Student Sport Federation of Armenia, also present.

Logistics of next year’s event were discussed, while visits to potential conference venues, hotels and other facilities were made.

Mr Tamrazyan emphasised the importance of the cooperation between EUSA and the Student Sport Federation of Armenia, while Mr Roczek commended the federation’s active involvement in both university sports events as well as educational activities such as next year’s General Assembly.

Mr Tamrazyan then reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment in helping to organise a highly successful 2020 EUSA General Assembly, where numerous representatives of national and international university sport federations are expected to attend.

Meeting Armenian Chess authorities

Following the meetings, EUSA also took the opportunity to meet with the Football Federation of Armenia, meeting with the First Vice President and Secretary General Mr Armen Melikbekyan, as well as the Armenian Chess Federation, meeting with the Federation’s First Deputy Chairman Mr Smbat Lputian, where discussions regarding the university sphere of these two sports as well as future cooperation were held.

Next year’s EUSA General Assembly will take place from October 8-11 in Yerevan.
