The EUSA Equal Opportunities Commission met virtually on Tuesday, July 20, discussing various initiatives, activities and future perspectives ahead of the conclusion of the current mandate.

Present at the online meeting was Equal Opportunities Chair Mr Bruno Barracosa, Secretary Ms Sara Rozman and members Ms Biscomb Kay and Ms Lenze Ines.

Following a brief welcome, an overview of EUSA’s activities was given, with discussions surrounding the 2021 European Universities Games which will unfortunately not be taking place in Belgrade, Serbia this year, while looking ahead to the 2022 European Universities games in Lodz, Poland. An update regarding the upcoming EUSA General Assembly and the opening of the bidding for EUC 2026 and EUG2026 was then presented.

The Commission was then able to reflect on the initiatives carried out in recent years, with great effort being put into the development of the strategic goals as part of the EUSA Development Strategy 2018-2024, the development of the EUSA Incident Policy and accompanying video as well as the proposal and development of the awareness campaign for new election rules and gender balance in the EUSA Executive Committee.

Various successful meetings and online events were also held in recent times, including an online seminar on gender equality as well as interactions with FISU on gender equality topics.

With the current Equal Opportunities Commission ending their mandate later this year, the commission concluded the last meeting of their mandate, with new members of the commission set to be nominated by the end of 2021.
