EUSA Education Commission meets in Ljubljana

On Friday, June 15, the Education Commission of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) held its annual meeting at the EUSA Office in Ljubljana.

Education Commission is chaired by EUSA Executive Member Mr Milan Zvan and has four members; among them present Mr Mozes Szekely, Secretary General of Hungarian University Sports Federation, Mr Daniel Freitas from Portugal and Ms Sara Rozman, who serves as the Commission’s secretary. Guests at the meeting were EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and EUSA EVS volunteer Ms Marianna Pikul.

After welcome address by Mr Zvan, the commission continued with the meeting throughout the day. Special focus was given to the preparation and organisation of the EUSA Conference in 2019. The EUSA Conference represents the main educational event of EUSA and the key focus of the Education Commission in the upcoming year. Members of the Commission confirmed the EUSA Conference Activity plan that will lead the work of the Commission over the next year.

The second part of the meeting focused largely on current and future EU-funded projects. Secretary of the Commission, Ms Rozman, presented in detailsall the projects EUSA is involved in, either as lead or partner organisation. Special emphasis was given to project VOICE, where commission members evaluated VOICE project resource materials, as well as the Equality Toolkit for Generation Z (GETZ) project. The GETZ project officially started with the Brussels Kick-off meeting held in May this year. The objective of the Gender Equality Toolkit for generation Z (GETZ) project is to develop, deliver and evaluate an innovative educational resource specifically designed to educate Generation Z on the issues relating to gender equality and equal opportunities in sport.

Members of the Commission discussed the current and future projects, as well as other activities for the near future. Commission members and EUSA Staff also evaluated VOICE project resource materials.

Special focus was given to the preparation and organization of EUSA Conference in 2019. EUSA Conference represents the main educational event of EUSA and the key focus of Education Commission in the upcoming year. Members of the Commission confirmed the EUSA Conference Activity plan that will lead the work of the Commission in the next year.

The last part of the meeting was dedicated to Members’ initiatives, their ideas and reflection of the work that falls under this Commission. After the conclusions, Mr Zvan officially closed the meeting. The Commission will meet again in the beginning of next year.
