EUSA attends BEC Awards Gala and Congress in Horsens

The European Badminton community gathered in Horsens, Denmark, on 23 April 2026 for the annual Badminton Europe (BEC) Awards Ceremony, celebrating the standout achievements and contributions from the 2025 season.
Upon invitation, EUSA President Haris Pavletic and EUSA Director of Sports Events Liam Smith attended the event, highlighting the excellent cooperation between EUSA and Badminton Europe.

EUSA representatives were warmly welcomed by Badminton Europe President Sven Serre, Secretary General Brian Agerbak, and the board of Directors, including the previous EUSA Technical Delegate, Radomir Jovovic, emphasising the strong partnership and continued collaboration between the two organisations.

During their time in Horsens,  the EUSA delegation also had the pleasure of meeting Badminton World Federation (BWF) President Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul. Horsens is currently hosting the Badminton Europe Congress, BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals, BWF Forum, and many other events.

Held in a distinguished setting, the event once again highlighted the breadth and depth of the sport across the continent, recognising excellence not only on court but also in coaching, technical officiating and community engagement. A total of 12 awards were presented during the evening, alongside the induction of a new member into the BEC Hall of Fame, underlining the tradition and heritage of European badminton. Amongst the award winners, EUSA representatives had the chance to congratulate 2025 Badminton Europe Female Player of the Year Delphine Delrue - a silver medal winner from EUSA European Universities Badminton Championship Warsaw 2015.

The ceremony brought together leading figures from across the badminton world, including past and present officials and top athletes, reflecting the strong sense of unity within the sport. The presence of prominent personalities and rising stars further reinforced the dynamic growth and visibility of badminton in Europe.

A key moment of the evening was the Hall of Fame recognition of Carolina Marin, honouring a career marked by excellence and long-term impact on the sport. This distinction, considered one of the highest accolades within European badminton, celebrates individuals who have significantly contributed to the development and promotion of the game.
The 2026 BEC Awards once again demonstrated the strength, diversity and continued evolution of badminton across Europe, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.

Badminton will be featured in this year's European Universities Games in 2026, which will be held in Salerno, Italy, from July 18 to August 1.
