EUSA at the ceremonial opening of the new academic year 2026 - 2027

As is tradition, EUSA took part in the annual Pozdrav Brucem Festival organised by the University of Ljubljana to mark the start of the new academic year.

The fair gives current, new and Erasmus students the opportunity to learn about the various organisations, events and sports facilities available in Ljubljana, while discovering opportunities to get involved in university and student life.

The EUSA ESC volunteers Elena, Balthazar and Lili represented the organisation. This was a great opportunity for them to connect with the students and invite them to participate in different activities.

The EUSA stand offered various games, one of which was “Throw the ball and find out where the championship of your favourite sport will take place”, which took centre stage and caught the attention of many. The other was a language challenge: “Translate and Win”, where the students tried to translate different sentences from various languages of the countries involved in the 2027 Championship season. A number of participants had some great language skills, which were rewarded with some EUSA gadgets.

The event was the perfect opportunity to showcase the volunteering opportunities for the upcoming European Universities Championships and Games. During the event, EUSA encouraged students who are interested in sport to sign up to be volunteers at the Championships that are happening around Europe next summer. There were a number of students who thought this a great opportunity and left their contact information. The EUSA volunteers even had the chance to talk to some student-athletes who hope to compete next summer.

Students also showed interest in the various European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteering opportunities, with current EUSA volunteers sharing their experiences and guiding them through the application process.

Students also showed interest in various EUSA projects, including ESSEPA, Cycle2Connect and the European Students Run, which were presented during the fair and sparked interest among those attending.

Only the falling dusk and the vibrant music echoing across the square finally brought the day to a close, without ever dampening the great energy of the students and ESC volunteers. With such an unprecedented turnout, all signs point to an extraordinary upcoming summer season for sports volunteering.
