With host cities spanning nine countries, the 2029 championships will bring together student-athletes from across Europe, celebrating sporting excellence, international cooperation and the spirit of university sport.
While preparations continue and several host locations remain to be confirmed, the announced destinations already promise a diverse programme of competitions.

From the courts and pitches to the water and the rowing lanes, the European Universities Championships 2029 will bring university sport to a diverse range of destinations across Europe.
The confirmed host cities will welcome student-athletes competing in disciplines that showcase the breadth of university sport, from team competitions to individual challenges.

Croatia will host Athletics in Zagreb and Chess in Vukovar, while Turkiye will welcome Badminton in Ankara and Football in Burdur.

In Spain, Valencia will host Beach Sports, bringing together Beach Handball and Beach Volleyball, while Madrid will welcome Tennis, and Granada will host Rugby 7s.

The programme will also see 3x3 Basketball in Hannover, Germany, Basketball in Budapest, Hungary, and Futsal in Covilha, Portugal. Portugal will host another championship in Aveiro, the venue for Volleyball, while Handball will take place in Suceava, Romania.

Further north, Trondheim, Norway, will welcome the Orienteering Championship, while Bydgoszcz, Poland, will host Rowing, continuing the tradition of bringing university sport to cities with strong sporting settings.

2029 will mark several important milestones for EUSA and its member organisations. Romania and Norway will host EUSA events for the first time, with Suceava welcoming the European Universities Handball Championship and Trondheim hosting the European Universities Orienteering Championship. Their involvement will extend the reach of EUSA events and bring new destinations into the European university sport community.

Germany will also return to hosting an EUC for the first time since 2015, when it hosted the European Universities Rowing Championship. In 2029, Hannover will welcome the 3x3 Basketball competition, marking a new chapter in the country's involvement in the championships.

Meanwhile, Valencia will return to the EUSA events calendar for the first time since 2007, welcoming the Beach Sports Championships. The Spanish city will once again provide a setting for European university sport, with two beach disciplines bringing student-athletes together on the sand.

In Granada, the European Universities Rugby 7s Championship will have an additional role, serving as a test event for the European Universities Games 2030. The championship will offer an opportunity to support preparations for the upcoming multi-sport event and contribute to the planning and delivery of university sport competitions in Spain.

With host cities announced across Europe, preparations for the European Universities Championships 2029 will continue in cooperation with the relevant national university sports associations, universities and local organising committees.

Further announcements will follow as the remaining host locations are confirmed.
