EUSA and FISU meet in Switzerland

EUSA met with the Federation of International University Sport (FISU) at their headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland for a one-day meeting on Thursday, August 29, where a number of topics surrounding university sport were discussed.

Present on behalf of EUSA was Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik as well as Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti.

In attendance on behalf of FISU was Secretary General Mr Erik Saintrond and General Director Mr Paulo Ferreira accompanied by his sports staff team Mr Julien Carrel and Mr Alejandro Guerra.

FISU’s Development Department also joined the discussions, represented by Director of Education and Development Ms Lilia Barieva and her colleagues Mr Tarmo Jaakson and Ms Olivia Margain.

The meeting began with discussions over the international sporting calendar, before zoning in on the World University Championships and University World Cups.

Thereafter, ideas regarding the sharing of documents and best practices among the two organisations were contemplated, as well as a common approach and collaboration on future ventures. 

The International Volunteer Programme and Observer Programme were then also discussed, before EUSA’s 2021 European Universities Championships programme was also examined.
