EUSA and European Rowing sign Memorandum of Understanding

During the International Rowing Regatta Sveti Dujе in Split, Croatia, a Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed between the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the European Rowing Confederation (ERC) on May 10th, 2025.

The MoU marks a commitment by EUSA and the ERC, through its Board, to co-operate to further university sport, specifically rowing, across Europe, particularly through events, by promoting projects and partnership between constituent members from the two organisations.

The Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed by the two presidents: Adam Roczek, President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), and Annamarie Phelps, President of the European Rowing Confederation.

The MoU was signed on the occasion of the 23rd edition of the International Rowing Regatta Sveti Duje, and the fifth time it was held under the patronage of the European University Sports Association.

The EUSA delegation was additionally represented by Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary General, Bruno Barracosa, Vice-President, and Liam Smith, Director of Sports Events.

Also in attendance were Haris Pavletic, President of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF), Jelena Matesic, CASF Sports Director, and Zelko Kisic, President of the Croatian Rowing Federation.

The two organizations will collaborate to promote each other's events, including the European Universities Games, Championships, and European Rowing events. They will also exchange information and updates, while exploring broader synergies and identifying new opportunities and projects stemming from their cooperation.

Several concrete actions have been identified to strengthen the consistency and growth of rowing, aiming to connect this key sector of the rowing community more closely through member rowing federations and national university sport federations. These actions include the coordination of umpires and relevant rowing regulations, competition data, event organizational standards, and calendars.

This year will be the 18th year of having Rowing as part of the sports programme of the European Universities Championships and Games.

In 2025, the European Universities Rowing Championship will be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland, from September 18-21.
