European university sport and Olympic education have taken a significant step forward with the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the European Olympic Academies (EOA). 

The agreement establishes a strategic framework to strengthen cooperation, promote Olympic values, and advance educational and sports initiatives for youth and students across the continent.

The MoU was officially signed by EUSA President Haris Pavletic and Prof. Dr. Mariia Bulatova, EOA Vice-President, marking the beginning of a long-term strategic alliance focused on the mutual development of university sport and the Olympic movement.

As the umbrella organisation for National Olympic Academies in Europe, the EOA brings a wealth of expertise in uniting continental academies to promote the Olympic Idea through educational, cultural, and scientific activities, emphasising ethical values and fair play. This aligns naturally with EUSA’s mission as the governing body for university sport in Europe, where it represents national university sport federations, organises major continental events, and works to integrate educational values and international cooperation into student sports.

Through this new framework, both organisations will focus on developing joint initiatives that champion youth engagement and Olympic ideals. The collaboration will drive mutual support for educational programming, including seminars, workshops, and conferences, while actively encouraging closer ties between National Olympic Academies and national university sport federations at the domestic level.

Furthermore, the partnership will promote the exchange of knowledge, publications, and best practices through the organisations' communication networks, while creating new opportunities for the active involvement of young leaders and students in the development of university sport and supporting the continued growth of their shared mission.
