EUSA and CASF attend European Kickboxing Championships 2018

The European Kickboxing Championships for KL, LK and K-1 was held in Hant Arena in Bratislava, Slovakia, from October 13-21, 2018. During the full week event, 493 athletes from 35 countries competed in 3 disciplines (Kick Light, Low Kick and K1) in the respective weight categories.

The largest delegation was represented by Turkey, with total of 53 athletes, while the most successful country was the Russian Federation with 11 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze medals.

Taekwondo LK

European University Sports Association (EUSA), represented by its Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti, and Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF) - Organiser of the EUSA Combat Championships 2019, represented by its Sports Director Mr Ronald Strumberger, visited Bratislava in order to observe the organizational aspects of the event and take valuable lessons for the organisation of the first ever Kickboxing tournament in EUSA history. Mr Aliti and Mr Ronald Strumberger both expressed their satisfaction with the visit and testified the very well organised event.

CASF and EUSA Sports Managers with WAKO Europe Secretary General

During this visit, EUSA and CASF representatives met with WAKO Europe President Mr Roy Baker, and WAKO representatives which will be actively involved in the organisation of the EUSA Combat Championships 2019 in Zagreb, Croatia - Mr Romeo Desa and Mr Tomislav Novosel. The visit concluded with the event’s highlight, Gala show for the selected finals in ring and tatami.

WAKO Europe President discussed the organisational details and expectations with EUSA and CASF representatives, thanked both for the visit and invited all participating countries and athletes to take part next year at the inaugural EUSA Combat Championships in such a format.

WAKO Europe, EUSA and CASF

EUSA Combat Championships 2019 will host the tournaments in Judo, Karate, Kickboxing and Taekwondo from July 31-August 4, in Zagreb, Croatia. Registration will open in December 2018 through the EUSA member federations.
