Europe prepares for the European Universities Championships 2027
In 2027, Europe's best university athletes will once again come together to compete at the highest level, as cities across the continent prepare to welcome thousands of participants, officials and volunteers for one of the largest university sport programmes in Europe.
The European Universities Championships (EUC) 2027 will feature competitions in 25 sports, forming 19 events, hosted by experienced Organising Committees in eight European countries.
From June to September 2027, the Championships will take university athletes to renowned sporting destinations across Europe. The programme begins with Badminton in Strasbourg (France) before continuing with Chess, Rugby 7s and Futsal in Zaragoza (Spain), Handball in Podgorica (Montenegro), 3x3 Basketball in Gdansk (Poland), Rowing in Sukoro (Hungary), Volleyball in Granada (Spain), Padel in Madrid (Spain), and a series of events in Split (Croatia), including Beach Volleyball, Beach Handball, Tennis and Powerlifting.

The summer programme continues with Basketball in Zadar (Croatia), Football in Porto and Table Tennis in Covilha (Portugal), followed by the inaugural European Universities Athletics Championship in Lisbon (Portugal), Orienteering in Kastamonu (Turkiye), and the Combat Sports Championships in La Nucía (Spain), bringing together Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Taekwondo and Wrestling, in a single multi-sport event.
Water Polo will be joined by Swimming, with both Championships taking place in Rijeka, Croatia. The dates for these events will be announced at a later stage.
Preparations are already underway ay in the host cities, with local organising committees working closely with EUSA and the national university sports bodies to deliver competitions that meet the highest organisational and sporting standards. As always, the Championships will also serve as an important platform for education, volunteering, sustainability and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
Universities interested in participating will register through their respective national university sports bodies, with registration information and deadlines to be announced in due course.
