EUG2022: The three last Competitions have started

While the end of the European Universities Games 2022 approaches, three competitions just started today: taekwondo, karate and sport climbing. Quarter finals took place for basketball and handball competitions, and the swimming and badminton competitions are still in full swing.

Skorupki hall is hosting the taekwondo competition that started today with the poomsae competitions followed by the awards ceremony. All competitors showcased great skills in poomsae and it was fascinating for everyone in the audience to watch their skills and performance.

The venue of Zgierz Nowa was also busy as the karate competition kicked off. On the schedule were Kata and Kumite tournaments for both men and women athletes, also with teams tournaments. Among others we had the chance to see University of Pristina (KOS), Marmara University (TUR), Comenius University (SVK), University of Zagreb (CRO), St. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje (MKD), Opole University of Technology KW (POL), The South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University K.D. Ushinskogo (UKR), and University of Vienna (AUT) competing in both women's and men’s teams.

Sport climbing competition also started today in Zatoka Sportu with the lead competitions for both men and women. The finals took place in the evening: among the competitors in the women's Lead category, the University of Innsbruck (AUT) won first place. While Sheffield Hallam University (GBR) was the one that guaranteed the win.

On the badminton court, the day started with mixed doubles competition followed by men and women singles competitions, to end with men and women doubles. The rounds that took place today will finally lead the athletes in all categories to the rounds and finals in the next two days, when we will know who will manage to get their hands on the medals.

Handball quarter finals took place today for both men and women. In the women’s competition we saw 8 teams give their best in order to get the chance to continue their way to the semi-finals, among which were the German Sport University Cologne (GER) playing in a strategy game against Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NOR) and the game between University of Bordeaux (FR) and University of Gdansk (POL).

Swimming was also going strong today. The athletes were competing in their categories and pushing strong until the finish line. Awards for the most succesfull were also given.
