EUG 2028 Split SVC Preparatory Visit

Ahead of the European Universities Games 2028 (EUG 2028) Supervisory Visit Commission scheduled for the end of March, representatives from the European University Sports Association (EUSA) held preparatory meetings with the EUG 2028 Organising Committee on February 27 in Split, Croatia.

The EUSA delegation was led by President Haris Pavletic, Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik, and Director of Sports Events Liam Smith.

The sessions provided a comprehensive update on overall planning for Split 2028, with focused discussions on the sports programme and foreseen legacy initiatives aimed at maximising the long‑term impact of the Games. Local representatives from the Organising Committee included Nikola Vincetic, President of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation, Toni Gamulin, First Vice‑President, and Jelena Matesic, Sports Director.

In addition to technical and organisational exchanges, the EUSA representatives met with some key institutional stakeholders involved in hosting the event, and conducted site visits to several facilities marked as competition or support venues for the two‑week Games, which are scheduled to take place in July 2028 in the renowned Croatian coastal city of Split.

These preparatory activities aim to ensure a thorough review of progress and alignment between EUSA and local partners ahead of the upcoming supervision visit later in March.
