The European Universities Games 2026 continue to deliver exciting action as competitions across several sports reach their decisive phases.

With group stages completed in some sports and knockout matches about to begin, student-athletes are moving one step closer to the medals.

After three days of intense competition, the Basketball preliminary round came to an end. A total of 12 matches were played throughout the day, determining the final standings in each group and completing the play-off brackets. Tomorrow, the teams will enjoy a well-deserved rest day before returning to the courts for the knockout phase, where every game will be decisive in the race for the medals.

Beach Handball has already reached the halfway point of the tournament. The final day of the preliminary phase determined which of the twelve men's teams and twelve women's teams would continue their journey towards the podium. With the group stage complete, the competition now shifts into the elimination rounds, where only the strongest teams will remain in contention for a place on the podium.

While the Women’s Futsal teams enjoyed a well-deserved rest day, the group stage of the Men's Futsal tournament concluded today, with the last exciting matches. The qualification phase for both the Men's and Women's competitions is now behind us. From tomorrow, the focus turns to the knockout rounds, where teams will battle in high-paced matches as they chase the European Universities Games titles.

The Padel tournament is approaching its conclusion after an action-packed day. Quarterfinals and Semifinals produced high-quality matches and determined the finalists in each category. Attention now turns to the final day of competition: tomorrow, the champions of EUG 2026 will be crowned.

Following the conclusion of the team events and the awarding of the first medals, the Table Tennis competition continues with the individual events. The singles tournament has now reached its halfway point, while the doubles competition officially got underway, with athletes competing for places in the medal matches.

After an exciting group phase, the Volleyball competition has entered the knockout rounds, with hard-fought and high-level quarterfinal matches for both the Men's and Women's tournaments. The winning teams will take the field again tomorrow to secure a place in the finals and move one step closer to the championship titles.

Alongside the sporting programme, participants also had the opportunity to take part in educational activities. The educational panels offered valuable insights and discussions, reinforcing the Games' commitment to combining sporting excellence with learning, personal development, and international exchange.
