EUG 2026 NUSA Coordination Meeting in Salerno
Representatives of the National University Sports Associations (NUSA) gathered in Salerno, Italy, between May 12-13, for the EUG 2026 NUSA Coordination Meeting, organised ahead of the upcoming European Universities Games 2026.
The meeting brought together NUSA Coordinators from 16 countries, representatives of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), and members of the EUG 2026 Salerno Organising Committee.
Hosted in Salerno and at the Fisciano Campus of the University of Salerno, the coordination meeting served as an important milestone in the preparations for the Games, offering participants the opportunity to receive operational updates, inspect venues and facilities, and discuss organisational matters directly with the Organising Committee.

The programme officially started on May 12 with presentations delivered by the EUG 2026 Salerno Organising Committee at the Fisciano Campus. The session was moderated by Liam Smith, EUSA Director of Sports Events, with attendees welcomed by Adam Roczek, EUSA Honorary President; Francesco Paolo Adorno, Rector's Sports Delegate of UNISA; and Lorenzo Lentini, President of CUS Salerno.

The NUSA Coordination Meeting provided a comprehensive overview of all key functional areas related to the organisation of the event. Accommodation arrangements were presented by Ester Marras, outlining the main hosting and lodging structures for participants. Catering services were explained by Gaetano De Stefano, with a focus on food provision and operational flow. Transportation logistics were detailed by Facundo Storani, covering mobility solutions for delegations and officials.

Accreditation procedures were presented by Salvatore Ferrandino, including access control and credential management systems. Security and medical services were jointly addressed by Gaetano De Stefano and Attilio Bianchi, with emphasis on safety protocols and emergency response measures.

Media and communications were presented by Cristina Pastore, highlighting information flow, press engagement, and communication channels.

Protocol activities were outlined by Danilo Cunsolo, covering ceremonial procedures and official engagements, while sport operations and competition venues were presented by Michele Di Ruocco, focusing on event delivery, venue readiness, and competition management.

The presentations highlighted the ongoing preparations for the Games and demonstrated the commitment of the local organisers to deliver a high-level sporting and cultural event for the European university sports community. Participants also had the opportunity to exchange feedback and raise operational questions directly with the organising team.
Following the morning sessions, the NUSA representatives visited several key operational locations and sports venues, including the university canteen, accreditation and transport centres, Lotto 1 and Lotto 2 facilities, as well as the Baronissi and Palaunisa sports venues. The site inspections enabled the participants to gain a better understanding of the competition and logistics setup planned for the Games.

The coordination activities continued on May 13 with additional venue inspections across the Salerno area. The delegates visited Palapalumbo, Palasilvestri, and Stadium S. Pertini in Montoro, reviewing the infrastructure and operational readiness of the facilities, which will host competitions during EUG 2026.

In the afternoon, a dedicated Q&A session was held, allowing NUSA representatives and EUSA delegates to discuss practical aspects related to participation, logistics, services, and coordination for the upcoming Games. The session provided an important opportunity for direct communication and exchange of information between all stakeholders involved in the event.

The NUSA Coordination Meeting represented another significant step on the road towards the European Universities Games 2026, reinforcing cooperation between EUSA, the Organising Committee, and the participating national associations in preparation for Europe’s largest university multi-sport event.
