Another exciting day of competition at the European Universities Games 2026 saw the conclusion of the Volleyball tournament, while the Futsal competition moved into its decisive semifinal stage.

With medals awarded on the volleyball courts and finalists determined in futsal,  the university sport spirit is thriving in Salerno!

The Volleyball tournament came to a spectacular conclusion as the EUG 2026 winners were crowned and the final standings of all 16 Men's and 16 Women's teams were decided. 

In the women’s tournament, the University of Bologna (ITA) reported a well-deserved victory after an intense and thrilling final against the Vytautas Magnus University (LTU). The podium is completed by the Ovidius University (ROU), winning an action-packed bronze medal match against the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUN).

In the women's competition, the Individual awards were assigned to Giulia Galletti from the University of Bologna (ITA) as MVP of the competition and to Alice Trampus from the University of Bologna (ITA) as the Top Scorer. The University of Salerno (ITA) was honoured with the Fair Play Award, acknowledging the respect, integrity and team spirit shown throughout the competition. 

In the men’s tournament, the University of Montpellier (FRA) defeated the University of Rostock (GER) in a gold medal match full of energy and excitement. The University of Maribor (SLO) secured the bronze medal, winning a high-level match for third place against the West University of Timisoara (ROU).

In the men's competition, the Fair Play Award went to West University of Timisoara (ROU), while the MVP award went to Matthias Delolme from the University of Montpellier (FRA). The Top Scorer award of the competition was given to Adelin Nowaczyk from the University of Montpellier (FRA).

Following several days of high-level competition, teamwork and determination, the tournament concluded with memorable performances from all the medal-winning teams, while all participating universities celebrated the spirit of fair play and international university sport.

Basketball action continued today with the final group-stage matches, as teams battle for the remaining places in tomorrow's semifinals. With the knockout stage fast approaching, every game carries added significance in the race for the medals. Intense contests are expected across both the men's and women's competitions, where only the strongest teams will earn the opportunity to compete for a place in the gold-medal matches. The pressure is mounting as the tournament reaches its decisive stage.

On Futsal pitches, it was time for men's and women's semifinals, bringing together the strongest teams in each competition for a spot in the finals. Today’s matches once again demonstrated the speed, technical quality and unpredictability of Futsal, setting high expectations for tomorrow's finals. With the finalists now confirmed, all eyes are turned to the medal matches, where the final chapter of another outstanding Futsal tournament will be written.

With volleyball champions crowned and futsal finalists decided, the excitement continues to build in Salerno as student-athletes from across Europe create lasting memories both on and off the field of play.
