The European Universities Games 2026 continue to showcase high-level sport competitions, energy-filled activities and memorable moments.

With medals assigned on the Futsal pitch and finalists appointed on Basketball courts, athletes and spectators experienced another action-packed day in Salerno.

After several days of fast-paced and highly competitive action, the Futsal tournament came to its conclusion with the final matchday at the PalaPalumbo Sports Hall in Salerno.

In the Men’s competition, the University of Split (CRO) defeated the University of Azerbaijan Sport Academy (AZE) in a thrilling gold-medal match that kept spectators engaged until the final whistle. The University of Zagreb (CRO) secured the bronze by winning a fast-paced third-place match against the University of Seville (ESP). 

Individual awards were assigned to players showcasing outstanding performances. Ante Crnjac (University of Split) was crowned as MVP of the tournament, Roko Marin Stojkic (University of Split) as Best Goalkeeper, and Alexis Dubois (University of Reims Champagne Ardenne) as Top Scorer - with a total of 14 goals. Together with Adalat Alakbarov (Azerbaijan Sport Academy) and Bruno Kovacic (University of Zagreb), these were the best five players of the competition, who formed the All-Star Team. The Fair Play Award went to the University of Mainz (GER), in recognition of their exemplary behaviour throughout the tournament.

In the Women’s tournament, the University of Zagreb (CRO) won the gold medal match with an excellent performance, defeating the University of Aveiro (POR). Adam Mickiewicz University (POL) brought home a well-deserved bronze medal, earned in an action-packed third-place match against the University of Barcelona (ESP).

The Fair Play Award was assigned to the University of Nantes (FRA). Individual awards were also presented to players who stood out throughout the tournament. Klaudia Kubaszek (Adam Mickiewicz University Poznan) was named MVP, while Iva Bacic (University of Zagreb) received the Best Goalkeeper award and Petra Acsadi (University of Pecs) was recognised as Top Scorer with 10 goals. Alongside Lara Lucic and Lea Kolcic (both University of Zagreb), they made up the tournament’s All-Star Team, honouring the five standout players of the competition.

The competition, featuring 20 men's teams and 16 women's teams, has showcased the very best of European university Futsal. Throughout the tournament, teams have demonstrated outstanding technical quality, teamwork and determination, embodying the spirit of a sport where every second can make the difference. 

The Basketball tournament has entered its most exciting phase, as the continent's best university teams compete for a spot in the finals. After days of intense competition, featuring a preliminary round followed by the knockout stage, the men's and women's finalists have been confirmed through dynamic matches, where every point has proven crucial. The semifinals delivered high-level university basketball, combining tactical discipline, athleticism, and determination - setting high expectations for the finals.

With Futsal champions crowned and Basketball finalists confirmed, the atmosphere across the venues of EUG 2026 is thrilling and exciting, as the Games promise more memorable performances and unforgettable moments in Salerno.
