EUG 2022: Going strong on the third day of competition

The third day of the competitions at the European Universities Games 2022 Lodz included: Chess, Beach Volleyball, Futsal, Table Tennis, Kickboxing, Volleyball, Tennis and Water Polo and the kick off of the Para Table Tennis tournament.

The atmosphere and the competition spirit at the para table tennis first matches was not lacking. The tournament was opened with the match between Wioletta Bator from Poland playing against Gevorg Beglaryan from Armenia. We had the chance to be present at the competition between Gevorg Beglaryan and Dominik Dendura.

The court of Table Tennis was quite busy today, having the semi-finals in both men’s and women’s categories. First semi-final in men’s category was played between Zamojski Academy and the University of Pecs and the second semi-final was played between Technical University of Ostrava and Nisantasi University. In the women’s semi-finals, the first one was played by Wroclaw University of Economic and Paris Dauphine University and the second one between University of Ljubljana and University of Ostrava. We had the chance to be also at the match between Yuxi Ren from University of Edinburgh and Gajar Movri from the University of Notthingam.

European universities Games is not only about sports, but also about workshops and volunteers in action!
Today, volunteers of EUG 2022 took part in various workshops. At 11 o’clock MODE Foundation and European Solidarity Corps organized eco-workshop. Participants were writing their ideas on minimizing our carbon footprint and later - made some wallets from TetraPak boxes. Volunteers surely had fun!

The ring of kickboxing was also on fire today. The kicks of the fights for the medals were showing the athletes’ strong will and thrive for a place on the podium. We had the chance to see some of the fights and to be present on the medal awarding. Medals were given in both men’s and women’s categories.

We went to check the atmosphere at the pool, checking the level of competition spirit among the water splashes.  It was the match between Sheffield Hallam University and Budapest Business School.

Futsal was also going strong, with the matches going on in both categories men’s and women’s team. We were there for the match between Czech Technical University in Prague and University of Beira Interior.
