EUG 2022: First General Technical Meetings

First competitions at the European Universities Games in Lodz are having their kick-offs tomorrow and today on 15th of July, the General Technical Meetings for Chess, Beach Volleyball, Futsal, Table Tennis, Kickboxing, Volleyball, Tennis and Water polo were held in the premises of the Institute of Physics of Lodz University of Technology.
On the today’s GTMs athletes of 8 sports were introduced with the rules and regulations, incident policy of EUSA, all the necessary information and the official draws.
Every General Technical Meeting that happened today, was opened with a speech from Mr Matjaž Pečovnik, Secretary General of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), who addressed few important facts connected to the diversity present on the games, the incident policy and thanked the representatives for their future collaboration and help, to make these games great and enjoyable for everyone. The floor was then given to Mr Miha Zvan, Sports Manager of EUSA, who was the leading speaker of the GTMs, presenting the program and the representatives of the Competition Technical Commission of each sport.

Mr Matjaž Pečovnik, Secretary General of EUSA

The General Technical Meeting for Chess, was the sport that opened the day, having present the representatives of 30 universities, that will take part of the chess competitions in both men and women teams.
Team led by EUSA Executive Committee member Mr Zoltan Rakaczki as the Chair of the Competition Technical Commission for Chess, together with EUSA Technical Delegate, Mr Oleksandr Sulypa, EUG OC Technical Delegates Mr Rafal Kowalczy and Mr Kamil Kozlowski presented details about the general program, the competition for both rapid and blitz matches, the rules and regulations of the tournament, competition awards, competition venue and some details about the organizational matters. The draw for the colours of men and women’s teams was also made.

GTM Chess


The GTM of Chess was followed by the GTM of Beach Volleyball. On this meeting we had the chance to host representatives of 23 universities that will compete forming a total of 18 women’s and 23 men’s teams. The welcoming message of this GTM was given by Ms Agita Abele, EUSA Executive Committee Member as the Chair of the Competition Technical Commission (CTC) for beach volleyball. Ms Agita Abele, along with the rest of the representatives Mr Anton Fichtinger, EUSA Technical Delegate for Beach Volleyball, OC Representatives Mr Jakub Wlaźlik and Mr Krzysztof Wojtunik and OC Technical Delegate, Mr Kamil Kozlowski introduced the present officials and athletes the system of competition rules, venues, competition format, awards and in the end the draw for the groups was made.

Third General Technical Meeting included the representatives from 28 universities and 29 different countries, forming total of 18 men and 10 women teams that will compete in Futsal. The welcoming message this time was addressed from Mr Hovhannes Gabrielyan, EUSA Auditor and Chair of the CTC for futsal, in which he wished everybody best of luck, with hopes that he will meet them in some of the next EUSA events. Present were also EUSA Technical Delegate Mr Tomasz Aftanski, EUSA Assistant Technical Delegate Ms Natalia Orive, and EUG OC Technical Delegate Mr Marcin Stanislawski. Mr Tomasz Aftanski presented competitions rules and exceptions, the competition format, protest procedure and other useful information. He also gave details about the International Exhibitional Teqball Match that is going to happen in Zatoka Sportu on 20th of July. This GTM was concluded with the draws. 

GTM Futsal

Next on the schedule was the GTM of Table Tennis, led by the EUSA Executive Committee Member as Chair, Mr Andrezej Hrehorowicz, EUSA Table Tennis Technical Delegate Mr Matija Krnc, EUSA Table Tennis Assistant Technical Delegate Mrs Marcela Petrikova and OC Representative and National Technical Delegate Mr Piotr Pielacińśki. Representatives of 34 universities competing had the chance to hear about the competition rules, venues, organizational information, hours of the kick offs planned for tomorrow and in the end the draws were also made. 

GTM Table Tennis

The fifth GTM of the day was reserved for kickboxing, having its first time being on the sports schedule at the European Universities Games. In this sport there will be 117 athletes competing, coming from 79 countries. The team that led this GTM was consisted of EUSA Executive Committee Member, present as Chair of CTC Ms Ivana Ertlova, EUSA Kickboxing Technical Delegate Mr Srdjan Bugarcic and OC Represetatives Mrs Patrycja Skupień and Mr Piotr Siegoczynski. The content of the GTM of kickboxing covered information about accommodation, covid protocol, schedule, venues, medical zones and rules and regulations of the competition.

GTM Kickboxing

Next in the line of planned was the GTM of Volleyball. The opening message of this GTM was given by EUSA Executive Committee Member and Chair of CTC of Volleyball, Mr Joerg Foester, EUSA Technical Delegate of Volleyball Mr Pablo Martinez, EUSA Assistant Technical Delegate Mr Antonio Correa, NUSA Representative Mrs Aneta Olszycka and OC Representative Mr Jakub Wlaźlik. In the competition there will be 28 universities competing.Details about the competition, rules and regulations, venues and awards were presented. The draws for the competition groups were also made.

GMT Volleyball

The GTM of Tennis was the seventh in the row, having the representatives of 29 universities present to hear details about the competitions. This GTM was let by the OC Representatives Mr Michal Sikorski and Mr Kamil Kozlowski. Details for the competition format, schedule, venues, rules of competition were presented. Draws for tennis were also made.

GTM Tennis

The last GTM for the day was reserved for Water Polo. The team was led by Executive Committee Member, present as Chair of CTC Mrs Flobena Nikolli, EUSA Water Polo Technical Delegate, also present as CTC Chair Mr Tamas Kovacs Csatlos, EUSA Assistant Technical Delegate Mrs Anna Nemeth, OC Representative Mr Kamil Kozlowski and NTD Representative Michal Czaplicki. In this competition there will be 9 teams competing, coming from 7 countries. Details about the rules and regulations, venue, organizational matters, and draws were part of this GTM.
