People smiling, fighting hard for their teams and supporting other teams is the picture we remember from the last European Universities Games and we saw exactly that on all the venues we visited today. It is unfortunate that not all teams can win, but this is the nature of sport.

The competitive spirit was not missing at the start of the kick boxing tournaments today. We had the chance to follow the match between Daniel Filipe Correia De Paiva from Portugal and Stepan Knyshov from Czech Republic.

Besides being a kick offs day, today was also a day for one of the promo sports, para weightlifting. The competition of this promo sport happened at Zatoka Sportu and had participants from different countries, competing in both men’s and women’s categories, in bench press. The most successful athlete in men’s category in the competition today was Tomasz Majewski, competing in category of 95kg, who lifted 185kg.

Table Tennis had its kick off today, having 38 matches in total, in both men’s and women’s category. We had the chance to visit a match in women’s category played between Vytautas Magnus University and University in Ljubljana.

For the end of kick off day, the competition energy was also high on the volleyball court. One of the matches we visited was the one between women’s team of Babes Bolyai University having the women’s team of Ben-Gurion University Negev, as the opponent.

Besides the kick offs, the GTM for 3x3 Basketball happened today. Rules, regulations, details about competition and draws were made.
