EUC2025 bidding officially open

The bidding for the 2025 European Universities Championships is officially open, with interested hosts encouraged to submit their applications before the December 2021 deadline.

The European Universities Championships (EUC) are university sports competitions governed by the European University Sports Association (EUSA), which take place on a biannual basis. The very first championships took place in 2001, at first on an annual basis before the introduction of the European Universities Games, which are held every even-numbered year, with the Championships held every odd-numbered year.

For EUC2025, there are 21 sports on the programme, split into three categories:
- GROUP A: Basketball, Beach Handball, Beach Volleyball, Football, Futsal, Handball, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Rowing, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Water Polo
- GROUP B: 3x3 Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis
- GROUP C: Chess, Golf, Orienteering, Rugby 7s

Altogether, 17 events are to be attributed in total, including:

- Multiple Sports Championships:
European Universities Combat Championships: Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Taekwondo
European Universities Beach Championships: Beach Handball, Beach Volleyball

- Single Sport Championships:
European Universities Championships: 3x3 Basketball, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Orienteering, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball, Water Polo

EUC basketball 2021

In 2019 a total of 21 different sports were included in the sports programme of the Championships, taking place across 14 host cities with over 5 000 participants involved.

The timeline and deadlines for the bidding procedure and selection is as follows:

Deadline for submission of the bid: 01 December 2021
Payment of the attribution fee*: 01 December 2021
Attribution of the EUC: by 31 December 2021
* Fee to be refunded in case the candidate is not selected

Please consult the national university sports association in your country on the possibilities and needed steps if you would like to organise a European Universities Championship(s) in 2025. A list of each federation and their contact details are available HERE. Alternatively, please direct ay queries to the EUSA Office at office@eusa.eu.

At the same time, the bidding for the 2026 European Universities Games is still open, which the submission deadline set for September 30, 2021.
