EUC Winter Sports 2025 officially concluded
The second European Universities Winter Championships 2025 have come to an exciting close, featuring thrilling final races and matches in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, and Snow Volleyball, followed by a memorable Closing Ceremony.
The Championships, held alongside the EUSA Winter Forum for the second time, welcomed more than 300 participants and once again highlighted the growing presence of winter sports within the EUSA Championship programme. The event featured three disciplines: Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, and Snow Volleyball.
Throughout the Championships, young athletes coming from 16 European countries, representing 57 universities, demonstrated outstanding talent and sportsmanship on both the snow-covered slopes and courts. Every race and match delivered its own share of excitement, surprises, and standout performances, creating unforgettable moments filled with energy and adrenaline.

All three sports began their competitions on 16 December, marking the start of an action-packed schedule at the European Universities Winter Championships.
The races in the first Alpine Skiing category – Slalom took place, bringing the first champions in both men’s and women’s competition. After a series of thrilling races, the women’s podium was as follows: Maja Chyla from Jagiellonian University (POL) successfully defended her title from the 2023 competition, claiming first place. The silver medal went to Amelie Stoellinger from the University of Innsbruck (AUT), while Patrycja Florek from the Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education (POL) secured the bronze.

In the men’s competition, Simon Nantschev from the University of Applied Sciences Munich (GER) claimed the top spot, while Julien Hermann from the University of Zurich (SUI) took home the silver medal. The bronze went to Philipp Schmid of the Technical University of Munich (GER).

In addition to the Alpine Skiing medals, the first day also saw podiums awarded in the Snowboarding competition. In the women’s Giant Slalom, the top three finishers were: Olga Kaciczak from Jagiellonian University (POL), who claimed the gold; Nisa Ozsoy from Ozyegin University (TUR), who took silver; and Zuzanna Sokalska from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (POL), who secured the bronze.

In the men’s competition, the podium was swept by Polish student-athletes: Michal Lachowicz from the University of Warsaw claimed the gold medal, Bartlomiej Kaciczak from AGH University of Krakow took silver, and Gabriel Seroczynski, also from the University of Warsaw, secured the bronze.

The Snow Volleyball competition proved to be a major attraction, delivering excitement and entertainment for spectators and participants alike, continuing with high energy and fun all the way through to the final day of matches.
The second day of the competition continued to deliver medals, races, and matches across all three disciplines. Despite challenging weather conditions, Snowboarding proved particularly exciting, fueling the competitive spirit and rewarding the most successful athletes with well-earned medals.

In the Snowboarding Team Giant Slalom, the three places were won by:
1. Warsaw University of Technology 1 - Zofia Calka and Konstanty Jonak
2. University of Warsaw 2 - Zuzanna Milczarska and Michal Lachowicz
3. University of Warsaw 1 - Klaudia Nowak and Gabriel Seroczynski
In the Women’s Snowboarding Parallel Giant Slalom, the medals were once again claimed by familiar faces: Olga Kaciczak from Jagiellonian University (POL) took the gold, Nisa Ozsoy from Ozyegin University (TUR) earned silver, and Zuzanna Sokalska from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (POL) secured the bronze.
In the Men’s Snowboarding Parallel Giant Slalom, familiar faces once again dominated the podium. Gabriel Seroczynski from the University of Warsaw claimed the gold medal, followed by his fellow Polish athletes Michal Lachowicz, also from the University of Warsaw, with silver, and Bartłomiej Kaciczak from AGH University of Krakow, who took bronze.
The final day of the competition marked the conclusion for student-athletes in Snow Volleyball and Alpine Skiing, delivering intense races and matches. The day was filled with excitement, joyful celebrations, impressive performances, and, of course, well-deserved medals and awards.
The Snow Volleyball competition brought fierce and skilful teams from Europe, who competed and created many fair-play and fun-spirited matches. Amazing points, blocks, and recoveries were showcased on the white surface of the snow pitch in Val di Zoldo.
Starting with the first match on 16 and finishing with great semi-finals and finals on the 18 of December, EUSA European Universities Winter Championships got the second in a row champions in Snow Volleyball in both men's and women’s competitions, setting a great example for the future of the event.
In the women’s competition, the podium was claimed by three outstanding teams. The gold medal went to the University of Warsaw (POL), represented by Julia Jaroszczak, Patrycja Jundzill, Martyna Wisniewska, and Maja Kruczek. Silver was secured by the University of Vienna (AUT) team, consisting of Sofija Saric, Rebekka Kremser, Marlene Renner, and Larissa Schlax, while the bronze medal was earned by Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (UKR), represented by Anhelina Matsiuchenko, Kateryna Biliak, Sofiia Shchutska, and Viktoriia Shandra.
In the men’s Snow Volleyball competition, the gold medal went to the University of Klagenfurt (AUT), represented by Maximilian Trummer, Finn Oerley, Laurenc Groessig, and Theo Hanni. Silver was claimed by the University of Warsaw (POL) team, consisting of Michal Korycki, Tomasz Jaroszczak, Aleksander Czachorowski, and Szymon Beta, while the bronze medal went to Charles University (CZE), represented by Tadeas Trousil, Jan Mrkous, Adam Waber, and Jindrich Zavadil.

The two MVP awards in the Snow Volleyball competition went to Patrycja Jundzill from the University of Warsaw in the women's competition and to Maximilian Trummer from the University of Klagenfurt in the men's competition.
The Alpine skiing competition brought more medalists on the last day of competition, as well. In Team Giant Slalom, the three most successful teams were:
1. University of Innsbruck (AUT) - Jonathan Mika-cortolezis, Tobias Raphael Schmidt, Katharina Lochner, Amelie Stoellinger
2. University of Grenoble Alps (FRA) - Rudy Morand, Zoe Cantel, Simon Dupont-roc, Chiara Tardelli
3. University of Warsaw (POL) - Mikolaj Sosnowski, Karolina Debicka, Maja Wozniczka, Bartosz Dajda
In the women’s Slalom competition, the gold medal went to Katharina Lochner from the University of Innsbruck (AUT). Her teammate, Amelie Stoellinger, claimed silver, while Maja Chyla from Jagiellonian University (POL) took home the bronze.
In the men's Slalom competition, the gold medal went to David Hrovath from the University of Klagenfurt (AUT), while the silver medal went to Philipp Schmid from the Technical University of Munich. The bronze medal went to Simon Dupont-roc from the University of Grenoble Alpes (FRA).
The European Universities Winter Championships officially concluded with a warm and memorable Closing Ceremony, bringing all participants together to celebrate the achievements and wrap up this remarkable EUSA Winter event.
The final remarks were given by Julia Zlatkova, EUSA Student Representative, and Dario Bianchini, Vice President of CUS Venezia, representing the Organizing Committee, who thanked all the student-athletes, officials, volunteers, and members of the Organising Committee for their dedication, time, and invaluable support in making the Championships a success.
