EUC Volleyball 2025 served its opening ceremony
The Opening Ceremony of the European Universities Volleyball Championship 2025 took place on July 27, 2025, in Budapest, Hungary, at the Dr. Jeno Koltai Sports Centre.
The Ceremony was attended by Adam Roczek, President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA); Lajos Mocsai, President of the Hungarian University Sports Federation (MEFS); Tamas Sterbenz, Rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS); Tamas Marcz, Ambassador of the National Institute for Sport Development and Methodology, representing the State Secretariat for Sport of the Ministry of Defence, and Zoltan Rakaczki, EUSA Executive Committee Member.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, participants were welcomed by Professor Mocsai, President of MEFS.
EUSA President Mr Roczek welcomed all participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities well ahead of the start of the competition, while also thanking the Organising Committee for all their contributions.

The competition is organised by the Hungarian University of Sports Science (HUSS) and the Hungarian University Sports Federation (MEFS), with the contribution of the Sports Club of the Hungarian University of Sports Science and the Hungarian Volleyball Federation.
The university and city have a strong tradition in hosting university-level sporting events, previously organising EUSA Chess and Bridge Championships 2019 and numerous national and international volleyball tournaments, which guarantees a high level of professionalism and commitment to excellence. The event also enjoys strong support from the local municipality, civic institutions, and local sports associations.

The Championship will take place from July 27 to August 3, 2025, in Budapest, Hungary.
EUSA is also represented by Technical Delegate Pablo Martinez, Assistant Technical Delegate Sanja Miklosic, and Sports Coordinator Ester Gulyas. They will make sure that the event runs smoothly and without problems.

The competition will host 16 women and 14 men teams from as many as 26 universities from 14 countries.
The title of European Universities Volleyball Champion is defended by the West University of Timisoara (ROU) in the men's competition, and by the University of Bologna (ITA) in the women's competition.
Expectations are high as athletes from across Europe gather to compete at the highest level of university sport, showcasing not only their athleticism but also the spirit of fair play, friendship, and cultural exchange.

The venue was alive with energy, marked by music, dance, and vibrant delegations proudly waving their flags, creating a truly international and festive atmosphere. The parade of universities drew enthusiastic cheers from attendees as each university delegation entered with pride and excitement.
The ceremony featured a captivating performance by the Band of Streets marching band, presenting a vibrant display of today’s chart-toppers reimagined for brass and winds that reflected the cultural richness of the host city.

Several athletes shared their enthusiasm about the event, while volunteers, many of whom are students from the host university, also expressed their pride in being part of the organisation team.
In line with EUSA’s commitment to sustainability, organisers implemented several eco-friendly initiatives, including digital information systems, reusable water stations, and waste separation zones across the competition venues.
The organisers hope the Championship will serve not only as a competitive platform but also as a legacy for future university sport in the region, inspiring young athletes and setting a benchmark for hosting international events.
