The 12^th edition of the European Universities Tennis Championship, taking place in Podgorica, Montenegro, was officially opened at an enjoyable Opening Ceremony on July 21.

The Ceremony was held in the square of the University of Donja Gprica in the presence of the authorities from the Ministry of Sport and Youth, Students Sports Association of Montenegro, City of Podgorica and the European University Sports Association (EUSA), as well as the other organisations and institutions.



The athletes, officials, volunteers and invited guests were first welcomed by the host, Rector of the University of Donja Gorica Mr Veselin Vukotić, who pointed out the sports history of the university, and how much they appreciate and invest in sport. 



Apart from the hosts, Mr Ivica Todorović, President of the Students Sports Association; Mr Kemal Tamer, representative of EUSA and Mr Miloš Lalević, Director in Directorate for Sport in Ministry of Sport and Youth also addressed those in attendance, before Mr Lalević declared EUC Tennis 2019 is officially open. 



Thereafter the oath of Athletes was read by Mr Čedomir Dragićević before Mr Aleš Fras read the oath of referees, before all guests enjoyed the rich cultural programme on offer.



A total of 132 participants making up 20 men’s and 15 women’s teams from 27 different universities and 18 different countries will take part in this year’s event in Podgorica, which will culminate on July 27.
