Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, will host the European Universities Handball Championship from 6 to 12 July 2027, bringing together university handball teams from across Europe.

The first inspection visit for the championship took place on 12 October 2026. The European University Sports Association (EUSA) was represented by Urmo Sitsi, Technical Delegate for Handball, and Miha Zvan, EUSA Sports Manager.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, the visit was attended by Boris Sekulic, Secretary General of the Students Sports Association of Montenegro, and Milos Vujosevic, Manager of the Association.

During the visit, the EUSA and Organising Committee representatives inspected the proposed competition and training venues, as well as the accommodation and catering facilities. The programme also included discussions on the organisational preparations, planned procedures and key requirements for the successful delivery of the championship.

As part of the visit, the delegation met with representatives of the Handball Federation of Montenegro, including its President, Petar Kapisoda, and Bojan Vuksanovic. The Federation confirmed its readiness to provide logistical support for the event, drawing on its experience in hosting international handball competitions.

The 2027 championship will mark the second time Montenegro hosts the European Universities Handball Championship, following the 2023 edition. The country has also previously hosted European Universities Championships in Futsal, Karate and Tennis, further strengthening its experience in organising European university sports events.

The European Universities Handball Championship 2027 is expected to welcome 12 men's and 12 women's teams from universities across Europe. The first inspection visit represents an important step in the preparations, supporting coordination between EUSA, the Organising Committee and national sports bodies ahead of the event.
