EUC Football 2025 has kicked off in Camerino

The Opening Ceremony of the European Universities Football Championship took place on July 27th in Camerino, Italy, at the Borgesca Fortress.

The whistle has blown and the pitch is alive, as Camerino has kicked off the European Universities Football Championship with an energetic and spirited opening ceremony.

In a town where history and sport meet, Camerino opened its arms to Europe’s student-athletes in a cheerful championship ceremonial start.

The Ceremony was attended by Stefano Belardinelli, OC President and Federcusi Delegate, Graziano Leoni, Rector of the University of Camerino, Roberto Lucarelli, Mayor of the City of Camerino, Francis Cirianni, EUSA SCAC Chair, Gianluca Pasqui, Vice President of the Regional Assembly, and Laura Lunetta, member of the National Olympic Committee, who welcomed all participants.

EUSA Executive Committee Francis Cirianni welcomed all participants and wished all the teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities well ahead of the start of the competition, while also thanking the Organising Committee for all their contributions.

The competition is organized by FederCusi and the University of Camerino, with the contribution of the City of Camerino, the Marche Region, and all other local authorities.

The Organizing Committee has decades of experience in organizing important local, national, and international sports events: in 2004 and 2023 the National Universities Championships, in 2008 and 2015 the European Universities Volleyball Championship, and in 2019 the European Universities Table Tennis Championship.

The European Universities Football Championship will take place from 27 July to 3 August in Camerino, Italy, setting the stage for an exciting week of football action, team spirit, and international university pride.

EUSA is represented by Francis Cirianni as the SCAC Chair, Technical Delegate Andreas Demetriou, Assistant Technical Delegate Ignacio Peralta Contrera, Andrej Pisl, EUSA Director Projects and Policy, and Jan Hussu, EUSA volunteer. They will make sure that the event runs smoothly and without problems.

The Competition will host 15 men's teams and 11 women's teams from as many as 21 universities from 14 countries.

The title of European Universities Football Champion is defended by the University of Wurzburg, Germany, for the men’s competition and by the University of Bordeaux, France, for the women’s championship.

The championship is soaring, with fans, teams, and organizers setting high expectations. This year's tournament promises intense rivalries, tactical brilliance, and emotional highs and lows.

Teams are expected to bring their best, with seasoned players showcasing experience and rising stars proving their worth. Spectators are looking forward to competitive matches, stunning goals, and moments of individual brilliance that define legacies.

The pressure is palpable, not just to win, but to inspire, entertain, and uphold the spirit of the game.

Prior to the Opening Ceremony, the General Technical Meeting took place, serving as a plaftform for official information and the official draw for the competition.
