EUC Badminton 2025 concludes in Madrid
The European Universities Badminton Championship Madrid 2025 came to a close with a moving and vibrant closing ceremony held at the Polideportivo Rey Felipe VI, hosted by Camilo José Cela University and the Spanish National Sports Council.
In a heartfelt and festive atmosphere, this event marked the 200th European Universities Championship in EUSA's history.
Teams from 19 universities and 15 participating countries (Germany, Austria, France, Croatia, Ukraine, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, Norway, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Lithuania, Switzerland, and Spain) were officially bid farewell, each proudly representing their academic institution and marching by their nataional flags.

The ceremony was attended by several distinguished figures from the academic and sporting worlds. Opening speeches were delivered by: Alberto Oro, representative of Camilo José Cela University; Sven Serré, President of Badminton Europe; and Bruno Barrascosa, EUSA Vice-President and Chair of the event.
Other prominent institutional representatives in attendance included: Andoni Azurmendi, President of the Spanish Badminton Federation; Aitor Canibe, Deputy General Director for Sports Promotion and Innovation (CSD); José Luis Lesma, OC Sports Director; Ernesto Baschwitz, President of the Madrid Badminton Federation; Jozef Kuprivec, EUSA Technical Delegate for Badminton; and Marta Fernández, Head of the University Sports Unit.

The event also featured a musical performance that brought energy and elegance to the celebration. The closing speeches emphasised the values that university sports represent: commitment, effort, respect, international friendship, and personal development. It was a week of high-level competition and an inspiring gathering that reflected the true spirit of European university sport.

In the men's doubles competition, the gold, silver and bronze went to:

The next EUC Badminton will take place in Strasbourg, France, in 2027, a handover sealed by the handing over of the EUSA flag from the Spanish organisers to representatives of the French organising committee.
