EUC 2025 EUSA Representatives Preparation Webinar
On June 12, 2025, the European University Sports Association (EUSA) organized the EUC 2025 EUSA Representatives Preparation Webinar, dedicated to preparing and coordinating efforts for the upcoming 2025 European Universities Championships.
The webinar was designed to equip participants for their roles as EUSA Representatives at the Championships, providing updates on the events and outlining roles, responsibilities, and expected behaviours during EUSA events.
The webinar brought together around 50 participants, including SCAC Chairs, Technical and Assistant Technical Delegates, Result Management Supervisors, as well as EUSA Office Staff. It was moderated by Liam Smith, EUSA’s Director of Sports Events.

The webinar covered a range of key topics, including an introduction to the European Universities Championships, the role of Technical Delegates, and sport-specific technical aspects. Participants were also provided with a general overview of the Championships and insights from past webinars. Additional sessions addressed accreditation procedures, safeguarding measures, and policies and protocols for handling incidents.
EUSA Secretary General, Matjaz Pecovnik, speaking also on behalf of EUSA President Adam Roczek, who was unable to attend, opened the webinar with a warm welcome and words of appreciation. He thanked everyone involved in the preparation of the 2025 Championships so far, including the Technical Delegates, EUSA Office Staff, various commissions, and the Organising Committees. He stressed the importance of EUSA Representatives’ support in ensuring the success of the events and expressed confidence that with positive energy and passion, any potential challenges could be overcome. He closed by thanking everyone once again and wishing them good luck for the season, with hopes to reconnect at future editions in 2027, 2029, and beyond.

Liam Smith, Director of Sports Events, opened the webinar with an introduction to the 2025 European Universities Championships, providing an overview of the event structure and the role of EUSA Representatives. He also introduced the SCAC Chairs and outlined their responsibilities, shared insights on performance expectations, and clarified the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders. Additionally, he presented the support programs available, highlighted important documents, and shared key updates and reports to ensure that all participants are well-prepared for their roles in the upcoming championships.

Miha Zvan, EUSA Sports Manager, provided a comprehensive overview of the technical side of the Championships. He spoke about the roles and responsibilities of Technical Delegates and Assistant Technical Delegates, emphasizing their key tasks and duties in managing the overall technical aspects of the events. He presented an update on team registrations and sports, and offered insights into the expected arrivals and programme structure. Miha also highlighted the importance of effective coordination and oversight, and guided participants through essential EUSA operational documents that support the smooth delivery of the Championships.

Eszter Gulyas, EUSA Sports Coordinator, provided a general overview of the 2025 European Universities Championships, outlining the key phases and overall timeline of the events. She recapped insights from past webinars and seminars, and introduced additional services available to support organizers and representatives. Eszter also presented the EUC 2025 Portal, highlighting its role as a central hub for accessing useful documents and resources essential for successful championship preparation and delivery.

Liam Smith covered important topics related to accreditation, including the athletes’ eligibility criteria and the EUSA entry fee. He also detailed the process for issuing accreditation cards and provided information about the accreditation centers, including their setup and operation during the championships.

Bruno Barracosa, EUSA Vice President and Chair of the Inclusion and Diversity Commission, presented on safeguarding and incident policies, emphasizing EUSA’s core values and commitment to creating a safe space. He outlined the policy framework, oversight mechanisms, and legal foundations, as well as behavioural standards and reporting procedures. He also shared guidelines for partners and reporting at EUSA events, highlighting key values, general principles, and expected conduct to ensure an inclusive and respectful environment.

Finally, Sara Rozman, Director of Education & Operations and COO, outlined the key aspects of protocol and ceremonies. She explained the procedures and equipment that EUSA Representatives will be provided with and shared essential information about the protocol arrangements for the European Universities Championships scheduled for this summer.

The meeting concluded with a reminder of the ongoing support available from the EUSA office and emphasized the vital role of collaboration among all parties involved. Participants were encouraged to maintain open communication and work together closely to ensure the success of the upcoming championships. The session ended on a positive note, expressing confidence that, through shared effort and dedication, the events will be a great achievement for everyone.
