ESSEPA project launches survey on Safeguarding in University Sport
As part of the European Sport Safeguarding Education and Promotion Action (ESSEPA) project, a new survey has been launched, inviting students, university staff, and stakeholders involved in university sport across Europe to share their experiences and perspectives on safeguarding.
The ESSEPA project seeks to strengthen safeguarding in university sport through the creation of an innovative online education and certification platform. This initiative aims to equip students, athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers with the knowledge and tools needed to prevent misconduct, promote ethical values, and foster safe and respectful sporting environments.
The survey aims to better understand how safeguarding is currently addressed within university sport environments, with a particular focus on preventing and responding to interpersonal violence, including physical, psychological, and sexual violence, as well as neglect.
The main objectives of the survey are to:
• Assess the current state of safeguarding practices in university sport
• Identify challenges and gaps in protection and safety measures
• Contribute to the development of effective educational tools and resources
