ESOM partners meet in Porec

Croatian Academic Sports Federation hosted in Poreč on June 8-9 the second meeting of the project Enhancing Sport Organisations and Management (ESOM), co-funded by the European Union.

The main aim of the project is to strengthen management and event organisation in university sport. This will be done through blended learning, sharing experiences, gaining new information and skills on the key topics of sports management, funding, communication and other key topics.

As a part of the project, partners also attended and contributed to the conference 4 Healthy Academic Sports Society. Mr Haris Pavletic, the President of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation and Mr Adam Roczek, the President of the European University Sports Association welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of sport, physical activity and management within sport organizations.

The importance and the impact of the goals of this project, for university sport were also addressed and shortly emphasised during the presentation on the topic of “University Sports: Development and new perspectives” given by EUSA Treasurer Mr Francis Cirianni.

In the operational part of the meeting, EUSA Communications Officer, Ms Hristina Hristova gave a project overview on behalf of EUSA as the coordinator, project partners shared their progress reports and defined the survey on university sport management which will be launched shortly. 

Moreover, the content of the survey was discussed in details, having the partners sharing relevant fields of interest, to be part of the research, as well as important content and topics, to be involved in future educational events, as part of this project. 

Worth emphasizing is also that the meeting was held during UniSport Finals, the largest Croatian academic sport event where 1200 athletes from 17 universities competed in 12 sports. All the project partners attended the event that was used as a platform to share good practices and experiences in event management and volunteerism and to see how it functions in practice.

ESOM is led by the EUSA Institute (SLO), with national university sports associations: Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CRO), Hungarian University Sports Federation (HUN), Students Sports Association of Montenegro (MNE), Student Sports Association the Netherlands (NED), University Sports Association of Poland (POL), Sports Students' Union of Ukraine (UKR) and the University of Ljubljana (SLO). The project is co-financed by the European Union.
