Erasmus+ Sport Info Day 2026

Erasmus+ Sport Info Day 2026

On December 11, the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), in cooperation with the Sport Unit of the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), organised the Erasmus+ Sport Info Day 2026. The hybrid event was held in person at the Charlemagne Building in Brussels and streamed online.

The event focused on the funding opportunities for sport-related actions and projects within the Erasmus+ funding programme; discussing policy as well as offering advice and tips on how to prepare and submit proposals. It also served as a platform to network and meet existing and potential new partners.

Opening and introduction was made by Sophie Beernaerts, Director of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). She also moderated the high-level round table, featuring Glenn Micallef, European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport; Bogdan Andrzej Zdrojewski, Member of the European Parliament; and Vassos Koutsioundas from the Cyprus Sport Organisation. The panellists discussed the current and future Erasmus+ programme.

The first plenary session focused on Erasmus+ Sport Policy priorities. Chaired by Giorgio Guazzugli Marini, Head of Sport Unit at DG EAC, the session featured contributions from Peter Fischer, Paola Ottonello and Stefano Pintus from the Sport Unit. They provided an overview of main policy priorities, with a special focus on sport and health, innovation, and green sport, linking the EU Work Plan for Sport with Erasmus+.

The second plenary session was dedicated to the Erasmus+ Sport Programme. Theo Duivenvoorde, Head of Erasmus Mundus & Sport Unit at EACEA, together with Gael Broze, Helena Kamencikova and Izabela Pelczynska, presented the main aspects of the Erasmus+ Sport calls for proposals. The session highlighted the novelties of the 2026 call and discussed best practices for setting up successful partnerships.

In the afternoon, three parallel sessions were held; namely Mobility opportunities for sport staff: Featuring insights and practical examples from National Agencies and sports federations; How to apply to the Erasmus+ Sport calls: A workshop aimed at presenting application templates, lump sum funding mechanisms, and selection processes; and How to apply for Erasmus+ Sport Capacity Building funding: focused on the Capacity Building action and is characteristics.

After a break, a special common session, "A Strategic Vision for Sport in Europe: Reinforcing the European Sport Model" presented preliminary results from the Public Consultation launched earlier in the year. The Sport Info Day concluded with closing remarks given by Georg Hausler, Director for Culture, Creativity and Sport, at DG EAC of the European Commission.

The event was attended also by representatives of EUSA members and associated members, as well as strategic partners and project partners, allowing for plenty of networking opportunities and time for individual discussion.

Event recording and presentations will soon be available at the webpage of the event: https://www.eacea.ec.europa.eu/news-events/events/info-session-erasmus-sport-2026-2025-12-11_en
