Erasmus+ Sport Info Day 2021

The European Commission and the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) organised an online info day on Erasmus+ Sport and other EU funding opportunities on March 23 and 24, 2021.

The event was opened by Ms Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth and Mr Marc Tarabella, Member of the European Parliament.

The new Erasmus+ Sport programme and funding opportunities were presented by Mr Luciano Di Fonzo, Deputy Head of Erasmus Mundus and Sport Unit - EACEA, before the discussion on policy priorities were presented by the representatives of the Sport Unit, DG EAC - European Commission, Portuguese Presidency - Chair of the Working Party on Sport, European Olympic Committees (EOC) EU Office, the International School Sport Federation (ISF), moderated by Ms Florencia Van Houdt, Head of Sport Unit of the European Commission.

The second day opened by introductions and testimonies by Mr Yves Le Lostecque, Head of Erasmus Mundus and Sport Unit - EACEA, Ms Viktoria Slavkova, Director, Ministry of Youth and Sport in Bulgaria and Ms Martina Jeričević, Head of Sport Sector in Croatia.

Overall budget avaiable

Before the conclusions, focus was given on practical information, including the new submission procedure, evaluation process and new funding mechanism, while the call and programme guide are yet to be published.

Funding opportunities

The new Erasmus+ programme will last 7 years, aligned with the new Multiannual Financial Framework – MFF), running from 2021 to 2027. Erasmus+ is also very ambitious in terms of policy objectives, and aims to be more inclusive, accessible, digital and sustainable. The idea is to foster the synergies between different sectors.

Submission procedure

The programme recognises horizontal priorities as well as sport specific priorities: encouraging the participation in sport and physical activity; promoting integrity and values; promoting education in and through sport; and combatting violence and discrimination.
