EMPATIA project partners meet in Paris

From April 23-25 the city of Paris hosted the third coordination meeting of the EU-funded project EMPATIA – Educational Model for Parents of Athletes in Academics – which the European University Sports Association, through its EUSA Institute, took part in as well.

The meeting took place at INSEP, the National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance, a training institute and centre for excellence in sports where elite athletes train. As part of the two days’ packed agenda, the representatives of each project partner discussed the progress of the project, analysed the contributions of the 483 parents who participated in the concept mapping and went through the preparations for a scientific manuscript and research study, among other things.

The EMPATIA project is co-funded through the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union as a Sports Collaborative Partnership. Its aim is to promote and implement dual career, especially targeting parents and guardians of talented and elite athletes who have primary responsibilities in supporting the combination of sport and education careers of their progeny for a holistic development as future European citizens and employees.

The project’s next meeting will take place in September in Rome, Italy.
