Not only are the action-packed sporting competitions a major feature at the FISU Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, but also the feature educational programme, including the FISU World Conference on Innovation, Education and Sport, and the Winter edition of the FISU Young Reporters Programme.

The second edition of the Conference, which took place during the first week of the Universiade, brought together young scientists, academics and sports persons to discuss latest technologies and sustainable development of winter sports. Almost 450 delegates from Russia, Europe, Asia and Africa were present, among them research leaders, sports officials and practitioners of sport, with the biennial two-day programme held at the U-Village campus at the Siberian Federal University facilitating engaging discussions on the student sports events experience, while specifically creating innovative events that emphasise legacy and sustainability.

Workshops, exhibitions and demonstrations also part of the Conference

Under the main theme "University Sports Events: Innovation for Legacy and Sustainability", sub-themes across the Conference included ‘Innovation for Developing Human Capital and Resources in Sport’, ‘Innovation and New Technologies in Sport and ‘Innovation for Universiade Legacies: Looking Ahead to the Future through the Present’.

In addition to the plenary sessions at the Conference, parallel sessions also took place which included various presentations, exhibitions of innovations and round tables. One such presentation included a talk on ‘Skills Recognition and Validation of Volunteering in University Sport’, delivered by Anett Fodor on behalf of EUSA as part of the Empowered Nation (ENAcT) project EUSA is coordinating, which is funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the EU.
