Celebrating global running day and world bicycle day
This year, on June 3, we celebrate both Global Running Day and World Bicycle Day - a fantastic synergy that reminds us how movement can bring people together through different sports. To mark this special day, the European University Sports Association (EUSA) invites you to embrace a healthy lifestyle and join our initiatives.
#GlobalRunningDay and #WorldBicycleDay foster inclusivity and encourages people of all ages and abilities to embrace a healthy lifestyle. The campaigns celebrate the joy of sharing sporting experiences with others, no matter the distance covered, because every kilometre is part of a journey that connects people across borders. At EUSA, we promote active lifestyles in many different ways. We invite our community to get involved in two major ongoing projects on running and cycling.

The European Students Run is a proud legacy of the Erasmus+ Sport Runners4All project, co-funded by the European Union. As the project concludes, we invite sports organisations, universities, and students to attend the online final conference on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM CET. The team will present educational materials, event recommendations, and plans for the run. You can register for the Zoom conference here.

Additionally, we encourage you to take part in our surveys: the Participants' Survey and Organisers' Survey, to share your valuable insights on event motivations, preparation, and management. Don't forget to fill out the Follow-up Form to subscribe and receive the final project results later this year!
Pedal towards sustainability with Cycle2Connect
Alongside the European Students Run, students can also celebrate #WorldBicycleDay by choosing a sustainable and active mode of transport through the Erasmus+ Sport Cycle2Connect project, co-funded by the European Union.
We challenge you to download and use the Cycle2Connect mobile app. Form a team with your peers, track your daily cycling, and start collecting kilometres! This app gamifies mobility, making cycling an exciting daily challenge that motivates students to shift from cars to bicycles.

Apart of the joy of moving any being physically active, the students who collect the most kilometres during the challenge period can qualify for the European Student Cycling Challenge 2027 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with all costs covered! Taking place on June 10, 2027, as part of the Marathon Franja, finalists will cycle through the Slovenian capital using the city bike system BicikeLJ and have the opportunity to participate in the main race. Find out more at franja.org/en/cycle2connect/.
Whether you run or cycle, keep moving and be part of a community that grows through sport!
