BUCS launch new hub for students to #GetBUCSActive

As part of their effort to keep students and staff healthy and active, British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), in partnership with Playwaze, have launched a new activity platform, #GetBUCSActive.

The #GetBUCSActive platform hosts a range of physical activity and wellbeing content for students and staff to use and enjoy. From step classes to mindfulness sessions, the platform is filled with something for everyone. The platform allows individuals to select activity based on a range of criteria including university, difficulty level, live or on demand, and type of session.

#GetBUCSActive is powered by Playwaze, an existing partner of BUCS, as part of their virtual offer to the sector to combat the impacts of coronavirus.

“Whilst the option of going for a walk, run or cycle is available, we know that each and every one of us has different needs and ability when it comes to staying physically active,” said BUCS CEO Mr Vince Mayne. “Seeing #GetBUCSActive launch with a wide range of sessions, workouts and advice for students and staff to select from is something we’re extremely proud of.”

Thanks to its easy-to-upload process, universities from across the UK have already shared their content.

“Seeing BUCS cancel its considerable weekly program of fixtures and events, in alignment with the government lockdown, was disappointing for all, not taking away from the necessity to do so. However, recognising the impact that lockdown is having on everyone’s ability to stay active, it was clear BUCS and Playwaze had a role to play,” said Mr Charlie Clarke, Chief Commercial Officer at Playwaze.

“Playwaze is very proud to be able to support BUCS and its members in redefining their delivery model from physical to virtual activity in the form of #GetBUCSActive during these unprecedented times. The platform is an innovative and purpose-built solution for virtual activity that supports the full breadth of the Higher Education sector, including staff and students, remain active mentally and physically.”

As the National Governing Body for Higher Education sport, BUCS has postponed all sports competition and events until the 2020-21 season.
